Household Hazardous Waste Collections are provided three times per year by the County of Hawai'i, Department of Environmental Management, Solid Waste Division at designated transfer stations.
Recycle Hawai'i helps with supplemental advertising via posters at the transfer stations.

ACCEPTED:
Automotive materials, antifreeze, used motor oil, corrosives, all types of batteries,
fluorescent lights & ballasts (NEW!), mercury thermometers,
unused or outdated prescription medications (no controlled substances or sharps & needles),
compressed gas cylinders (NEW!), oil-based paints & stains, toxic garden supplies,
poisons & miscellaneous household products

NOT ACCEPTED:
unknown materials, explosives, radioactive wastes, non-hazardous materials
or waste from businesses (call for unusual materials).

Where & When:

Hilo Transfer Station: 1st Saturday of June & December • 7:30 AM-2:30 PM
Kailua-Kona Transfer Station: 2nd Saturday of June & December • 7:30 AM-2:30 PM
Pahoa Transfer Station: Sunday, March 7 • 8:30 AM-3:30 PM
Waimea Transfer Station: Saturday, March 6 • 8:30 AM-3:30 PM 

Puna residents can drop off unwanted but usable Latex paint
at the Keaau recycling & Reuse Center any time.
Please, Latex paint only!
