Recycle Hawai`i is a 501(c)3 non-profit educational organization serving Hawai`i Island. We currently offer free public recycling educational services on behalf of the County of Hawai`i, the State Department of Health, and our contributors.

The mission of Recycle Hawai`i is to promote resource awareness and recycling on the Island of Hawai`i. To achieve this, we educate and inform people about environmentally sound resource management and recycling opportunities for a more sustainable future.

2010 Art of Recycling School Competition

This annual event is held for Hawaii Island students
to increase environmental awareness
and encourage recycling and sustainable practices
at schools and in the community.

New Recycling and Transfer Station
Hours Finalized

The Hawai‘i County Department of Environmental Management
has changed the operating hours and days at
County Solid Waste Recycling and Transfer Stations (a.k.a. Solid Waste Transfer Stations).

This change applies to the operating hours and days
for associated on site HI-5 Beverage Container Redemption Centers and Reuse Centers.

The new hours and days of operation are provided in the link below and took effect on August 1, 2010

 Please note the following Recycle Hawai`i Reuse Center hours have recently changed
separate from the downloadable schedule:

Waimea RRC
Seven days a week • 9:00 AM-4:30 PM

Hawi RRC
Tuesday, Wednesday,
Thursday • 12 PM-6 PM 

Kea'au RRC
Seven days a week  • 8:00 AM-5 PM

KH (Keauhou) RRC
Daily 8 AM-4 PM • Wednesday • 6:30 AM-4 PM 

Calculate Your Carbon Footprint

A carbon footprint is a measure of the impact
that human activities have on the environment
in terms of the amount of greenhouse gases produced,
measured in units of carbon dioxide.

eWaste Disposable Days program will be held October 27–30, 2010
 
UH will facilitate FREE statewide  recycling services courtesy of Apple,
with collection locations at UH campuses on The Big Island,  Kaua‘i, Maui, and Oahu.
October 27-29 is designated for collection on select days from:

•  Non-profit organizations
•  Small/medium-sized businesses
  (of less than 100 employees)
•  All public/private schools and universities
•  Government Agencies (City, County, State)
•  Military Branches

Hawai‘i household residents may recycle on Saturday the 30th.
